Information & Advice for Voluntary Groups

What is Cotswold CVS?

The acronym part comes from the services origins as a 'Council for Voluntary Services' and although we have dropped that rather formal sounding name (mostly to stop people confusing us with the local authority and ringing to complain about the drains) we have kept the CVS part since it is well recognised by Voluntary & Community Sector groups and by our Statutory Sector partners/stakeholders.

The core functions of a CVS are broadly divided into 5 headings:

  • Services and support
  • Liaison
  • Representation
  • Development work
  • Strategic partnership

We offer a wide range of general information, advice and support services for informal groups and formally constituted organisations in the voluntary and community sector.

So, if you need help with any of the following then contact us! Where you need more specialist advice then we are happy to refer you to the appropriate organisation or agency.

Examples of the advice and support services offered

  • Training and facilitation
  • Developing effective fundraising strategies
  • Management/governance issues
  • Organisational development
  • Publicity and Marketing
  • Starting up a voluntary group
  • Roles and responsibilities of officers/trustees

  • Applying for charitable status
