 Cotswold Community Transport

What is Community Transport?

Our low cost accessible transport service helps people maintain their independence and involvement in the local community. Without our services many of our users would be housebound and isolated, unable to get out and about, go shopping, visit friends or community clubs, or even keep hospital appointments and access essential health care facilities.

Dial A Ride Services

Cotswold Community Transport operate Dial-A-Ride services across the area with local offices in Cirencester, Tetbury and Fairford. An office in the North Cotswold is opening in early summer 2008 at the Moore Cottage Hospital site in Bourton-on-the-Water.

Volunteer Car Service

In Cirencester, Tetbury and Fairford areas (and shortly the Bourton area) a Volunteer Car Service operates which takes people to and from hospital appointments and in-patient stays. This service is solely dependent upon the efforts of our volunteer car drivers. Whilst the majority of journeys undertaken are in response to 'medical need' there is a growing need from elderly, frail and disabled clients for 'social need' journeys such as to access Day Care centres, shopping centres, to visit friends/relatives, etc.

Volunteer Car Drivers: "Meet new people, make a difference".

We are always looking for volunteer drivers, for both our Dial-a-Ride and Volunteer Car Services. So why not help out? Your time and effort can make a real difference to someone's life.

Volunteer Car Scheme drivers usually use their own cars and are reimbursed for mileage covered and any out of pocket expenses.

Our drivers are a much valued part of our team, and we NEED you to help us provide essential help and support to people in your area.

The Dial-a-Ride and Volunteer Car Transport Services are invaluable to the mainly elderly and disabled users who have no other means of accessing necessary services. In 2007/2008 we covered in excess of 350,000 miles in the south Cotswold alone!

We are keen to recruit new volunteer drivers for both the Dial-a-Ride and the Car service. A few hours of your time could make a life-changing difference to someone else. We have a desperate need for additional escorts on our buses in Cirencester, Fairford, Tetbury and Bourton. Without an escort many of our users are unable to travel and are therefore completely housebound!

If you are interested in helping us please contact Cotswold Volunteer Centre on 01285 658802.

Cotswold Community Transport also undertakes contracts (to help fund its charitable activities) and is a preferred provider of services to a number of Statutory sector organisations including Gloucestershire County Council (GCC), and Great Western Ambulance Services (GWAS). If you wish to discuss contracting for provision of transport services then please contact our Transport Manager on 01285 659374.
