 Bourton Dial-a-Ride and Car Scheme

Services expanded in the North Cotswolds

Cotswold Community Transport (which operates the dial-a-ride and voluntary services car schemes in Cirencester, Fairford and Tetbury) has now opened an office in Bourton thanks to Moore Cottage Hospital (and the Friends of Moore Cottage hospital)

Our low cost accessible transport service helps people maintain their independence and involvement in the local community. Without this many of our users would be housebound and isolated, unable to get out and about, go shopping, visit friends or community clubs, or even keep hospital appointments and access essential health care facilities.

We offer two basic services, the Dial-a-Ride minibus scheme and the Volunteer Car Scheme. We URGENTLY need volunteer drivers for both so that we can meet the transport needs of frail and elderly people in the area.

Our Bourton office will coordinate services in the area bordered by Northleach in the south and Stow in the north (and all the villages in the surrounding areas). As well as regular journeys to Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucester Royal Hospital, there is a plan to operate a regular shuttle service between the Moore Cottage Hospital site and Moreton Hospital. There are occassional medical need trips further afield for drivers willing to travel out-of-county (for instance to Oxford and Bath).

This valuable service is solely dependent upon the efforts of our volunteer drivers. Whilst the majority of journeys undertaken are in response to 'medical need' there is a growing number of our frail, elderly, and disabled users who want to go on 'social need' journeys such as to access day care centres, shopping centres, to visit friends/relatives, etc.

LATEST NEWS: The Community Transport Team are now putting together a small team to run the office in Bourton. The role involves some light admin, dealing with enquiries from potential users of the service, and supplying the other volunteers with a constant stream of tea and biscuits.

Bourton Dial-a-Ride: Accessible, Affordable, and Enjoyable

We are always looking for volunteer drivers, so why not help out? Your time and effort can make a real difference to someone's life.

Our drivers are a much valued part of our team, and we NEED you in order to provide essential help and support to people in your area.

We also need car drivers for our Volunteer Car Scheme. Drivers use their own cars and we reimbursed them for mileage covered and any out of pocket expenses.
